[ mood | nervous ]

Hi everyone!! I hope you're all well!!

I'm just quickly blogging to announce that I'm organizing... THE MELBOURNE FREEZE FRAME PROJECT 2009 & I'm actually quite nervous about it. It will be next month on Saturday, June 20th at 1pm at Bourke Street Mall in the city; where everyone freezes for 5 minutes. I am guessing some of you have heard about this before? I hope so. If you have Facebook, & can attend then PLEASE submit your attendance on the event page!!

If you know anyone in Melbourne who'd be interested, please tell your friends!! I want this to be as successful as possible.

I hope that you can make it. WISH ME LUCK!!

Looking for a house or apartment to rent in either Sydney or Melbourne?

Turning up to inspections to find hundreds of people looking at one apartment?

Australian cities are experiencing a housing shortage of epic proportions.

It's becoming harder and harder to find a property to rent and this Livejournal community is the place to share your horror stories, just to have a good rant,or provide tips or advice for others.

Share your tale of woe here!

hey all! :) [06 Oct 2008|08:27pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Hi all,
I just joined this community. -- you can find a lot of general info about me in my user info, but, basically, i just joined to make new friends. One can never have enough of them, in my opinion, so why ever not? :)
I'm 29 years young from the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
I love going out and meeting new people, so if you're one of those who love going into the city and having a coffee, or lunch, or walk around and just gab about everything and nothing, feel free to say hi and get to know me.
doesn't have to be the city of course, but I use it a lot with friends cos it's obviously central.
I am in Blackburn so anyone from there also, or surrounding areas, really cool!
Hope to be hearing from some of you!
Cheers! :)

I just have a question for those of you who have been to Festival Hall in Melbourne before.

I'm just about to buy tickets for the Snow Patrol concert there, and I was wondering if there's any difference in sitting in the lisenced or non-lisenced areas other than the obvious? I can get either tickets in the first part in the lisenced area but apparently there 'may be impeded viewing' and then I can also get tickets in the second part but on the non lisenced side, and there's no mention of impeded viewing :S

Russell Peter Tickets [22 Oct 2006|03:55pm]

Hi, I bought 6 tickets for the Russell Peters show in Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne for Sat, 16th Dec, 7pm. Turns out I cannot make it as I will be away in Sydney for the month. Would anyone here be interested in buying them off me for face value of the tickets of $60 each.

Please email me at finnstar@gmail.com or leave a comment if you want any of these tickets.

Puzzle Glue [08 Jul 2006|10:00am]

Jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts
sometimes buy a product called puzzle glue
& when they have completed
a particularly challenging endeavour
they use it to secure all the pieces together
& then they frame the thing
& hang it on the wall
& I am seduced
just as they are
by the illusion
of having something to show for your life
a product
not just a process
an object of beauty
rescued from the fragments
an enigma to struggle over
until slowly a picture can emerge
but only for an instant
and I rush to the store
looking for life glue
knowing that with every step
the pieces jostle
away from one another
away from me.

Melbourne's youth diversity [16 Jun 2006|09:50pm]

hello everybody,
I'm a first year uni student at Deakin
and till this year I didn't realise something.
I'm a boy from the Dandenong (Sth-East Melb) area
and what I've learnt from being outside my area
in Burwood and other non Sth-East suburbs is that
there is a general variation among youth of different parts
of Melbourne(This probably sounds so obvious!lol but it was new to me.)
Someone or maybe just me should start a project involving
the various different youth of different parts of Melbourne.
Anyone wanna help? It's not actually a project in formulation or
anything it's just an idea I thought about today.

Hello to everyone I am Jens and I am new here. Yea, you guessed right thats German but I am an aussie and I love Australia and all its temptations. I get that name coz my father is german.

I was born in Melbourne. I am an only child. My parents are divorced.

I went to Catholic school for eleven years.

I like roleplaying and warm temperatures. Yes, I realize that was random, but I hate winter. I should run away north and live on the beach.

I have two piercings and a tattoo.

I am currently doing graphics design but i have taken a break for a year.

I love the city. I have an irrational fear of rural areas. I love dogs more than any other animal (maybe even people, perhaps excluding penguins).

I look a lot younger than I am, and I get annoyed when people tell me "you're young..."

I have insomnia. It drives me crazy. On the other hand, on the rare occasions when I am able to fall asleep, I fight it. I'm experiencing insomnia right now at this very moment!

I'm a huge fan of Eminem

I suck at Kareoke.

I HATE minivans.

I relax, dye, and am constantly cutting my hair.

I am a human not a fag.

Come on, admit it- you sing along to "Wonderwall" too when no one is around.

Last night before I woke up I was dreaming about hotdogs with sauerkraut (or however its spelled...)...the night before ham and cheese sandwiches and cinnamon buns. I don't remember much of these dreams, except that when I kept asking the guy at the counter, he kept trying to get me coffee and I kept saying "no, you keep giving me coffee, I'm saying CINNAMON BUNS!"

I have a lot of time off these days as I'm recovering from surgery. These are the things I dream and talk about when I don't have a life.

I never had an "award shelf" coz my mom didn't want me in competative sports. I guess I won a couple of spelling bees and drawing contests.

In May of 2006 I'll be 20. I think I'm hard to please about birthdays...while I like them acknowledged. I don't feel too comfortable being the center of attention.

I read James Patterson and John Grisham books. I would actually prefer something really funny, or really gruesome (non-fiction gruesome...not fictional gore). I'm open to suggestions.

Yea, thats me... One and only, just lookin to make new friends and I am proud to be who I am and yea I almost forgot... I am single.

Unity in Diversity: celebrate multicultural Australia with a picnic for peace [16 Dec 2005|09:19pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

[permission to repost - spread it to all Melbourne people until Sunday!]

A bunch of my friends are involved in organising this. I obviously can't be there, but can everybody who is able to, please go for me...

Unity in Diversity: celebrate multicultural Australia with a picnic for peace

Frustrated about racism and violence in your beautiful country? Wondering what to do? Come help us celebrate and keep a vibrant tradition of peaceful multiculturalism alive!

A peaceful celebration of multiculturalism is planned for this Sunday in Melbourne, beginning with music and speeches at the State Library on Swanston St in Melbourne's CBD, then a festive walk to Treasury Gardens where families and individuals from all backgrounds and all walks of life are invited to a Picnic for Peace.

EVERYBODY IS WELCOME regardless of their heritage or religion, whatever their background. We hope people at the picnic will get to know a stranger and share a meal with them. Our motto is 'be a friend, not afraid'.

The timing is deliberately to coincide with the threat of continued violence in Sydney and we hope to have a few minutes of silence to send good thoughts their way. A similar peaceful rally and picnic will take place in Sydney, organised by United Against Racism (1pm at Sydney Town Hall, followed by picnic at Belmore Park near Central from 3pm).

Date: Sunday, December 18, 2005
12pm: Meet at State Library, Swanston St, Melbourne, for speeches and music.
1pm: Festive walk to Treasury Gardens. Participants are encouraged to bring musical instruments and their dancing shoes.
2pm -- 5pm: Picnic for Peace. Bring a picnic meal to share, an open heart and hope for a multicultural Australia.

About Unity in Diversity

We are an unaffiliated group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds who have come together in response to the recent events in Sydney. We have no political agenda or membership and we welcome participation by all groups who are willing to put aside political, religious and ethnic differences to embrace cultural diversity and harmony. We stand for peace, love and unity and believe that a harmonious multicultural Australia is possible.

More information: http://www.unity-diversity.org

Pass this on to everyone you know! It's so important at this time to counter negativity with light and love.

Australian Dog Community. [22 Oct 2005|06:55am]

Hi there. My name is Naomi. I've recently started a livejournal community for Australian dog owners. This is not specific to animal welfare, but I hope that it may be a springboard for local community cohesion concerning animal welfare. It is also a place where people can share pictures of and stories about their dogs as well as potentially discuss local animal issues, including laws, fostering and animal transportation. If you feel you may be interested please join up by clicking here: dogs_australia
